Observable vs Historical Science

Fourth email reply I sent my friends after I sent them some links about dinosaur tissue finds:
Read the first, second, and third replies, these seem to get longer and longer.  Smile

I don’t know if I said it’s not logical to live life without a purpose, but I do think that’s true if we’re talking about the objective purpose (see my reply about the different purposes).  According to man, if there is nothing afterward, I’m just trying to live happy and gain as much as I can, but in the end, you don’t take any of it with you.  Even if you are rich, that doesn’t necessary make you happy; Donald Trump said on Larry King that he was not happy at all.  So, why work so hard to afford stuff that is not going to be around.  I’m not saying that you are materialistic; I’m saying that working for anything of this world is temporal, non-lasting and that is not logical.  Now, I’m not saying that we shouldn’t work; it just shouldn’t be all we do and all for the here and now.

There are a few reasons why I use passages from the Bible.

  • To explain where my ideas came from and how the Bible supports it.  (i.e. man’s sins, Christ is salvation)
  • To refute claims made about the Bible that is not true.  (i.e. Can’t test the Bible)
  • It is the most historically accurate book according to most, if not all, historians.
  • It’s a way for me to get you to read parts of the Bible.

How far back are we talking about that we need morals because there are no rules?  There have always been kings and empires.

  • Modern nations
  • Medieval kingdoms
  • Roman empire, 27 BC – 395 AD
  • Athenian empire, 336-323 BC
  • Medo-Persian empire, 900-625 BC
  • Babylonian empire, 3000-1250 BC

As far back as the 31st century BC there have been empires with its kind of government with rules and people (lords and armies) to regulate the people.  Even back in the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve had a rule.  What I am saying is that most of these rules came from some moral that is within all of us.

The rule that Adam and Eve had is to not eat of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, not the Tree of Knowledge of facts and learning.  Without, eating of that tree, people would still have been able to learn and ask questions and advance in science and technology.  In fact, if Adam had not committed that first sin, God would still be around and we would be able to just ask Him how the sun works, what is the sky blue, how many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop.  We could ask Him anything and He would tell us.

Eating from that Tree was having both the good AND the evil thoughts.  “And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.” (Genesis 2:25)  Before they ate of the tree, there were no evil thoughts in their minds.  “Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked.” (Genesis 3:7) When they ate of the Tree, the porn industry was born.  They were ashamed of their nakedness and covered it with fig leaves, since then, man wanted a peek behind those leaves.

You say that the people who do immoral things might be in paradise, but are they in their own societies?  I used those examples for a poor society because a society is made up of all the people that live in it.  Even if you don’t do any of those things, a lot of people, who make up this society, are drug addicts, sex offenders, alcoholics, or murderers.  Drug addicts steal to get more drugs, maybe even hurt someone to get their money, we have to spend tax dollars to get drugs off the street.  Sex offenders rape women and girls, hurting them and sometimes killing them.  Those women might get pregnant, their families might reject them.  They could have abortions or put them up for adoption or just leave the baby somewhere.  Gang members might kill you because you’re wearing the wrong color or you’re in their “hood”, so you’re afraid to go to certain areas of the city.  Everything affects you or someone you know in someway and in some degree.  Is it okay for others to suffer so they can be in their “paradise”?

Consequently, these rules and regulations are not good enough to keep people from acting on their selfish desires.  They do what makes them feel good even if it hurts someone else.  They can justify it by making excuses or deluding themselves in thinking it really doesn’t hurt anyone.  When enough of a group thinks it okay, they can start lobbying, and then it becomes part of the “law”.  As a result, these laws are nothing more than the popular opinion of the current “society” instead of the absolute truth and moral built into our being.

Because the Jews forsook their God, He removed His protective hand on them.  As a result, the nation Israel and city of Jerusalem were destroyed in 70AD by the Romans.  The Jewish people were dispersed to other nations.  God did not complete destroy them because they are His chosen people.  In 1948, in fulfillment of end times prophesy, Israel is again a country, and then in 1967, the Jews regained Jerusalem.  God kept their bloodlines and nationality pure so that the Hebrew people will again have their own nation where Jesus will rule after His second coming.  Every other group of people in history who have lost their home land has lost their nationality within 5 generations.  The Jewish people were without a home land for almost 2000 years, which alone is good evidence of God.

After a little search, it looks like Jewish politicians, investors, and other prominent Jewish people starting coming back into the world scene around the same time they started to migrate back to Jerusalem in the 1800s.  Leading up to the reestablishment of the nation if Israel.

On a side note, another fulfilled prophesy is that in the end times, Jerusalem will be filled with people “of every nation and of every tongue”.  Go to Jerusalem now, and there are hundreds of different languages spoken with people from hundreds of different countries.

One thing that I want to mention is that most people think, “Evolution is a science, Creation is a religion,” and just blow Creation off as faith only.  In my opinion, evolution is as much a religion and faith based as Creation and Creation is as much of a science as evolution.  Science, in its purest, most basic form has to be testable by repeatable observations (dropping a ball and measuring the time it takes to hit the floor).  The theory of evolution and the theory of Creation are attempts to explain the origin of life.  They are both of historical science, trying to explain what had happened with what we have today and with what we can observe today (the ball is on the floor, did someone push it or did it just roll off the table). [1]

Natural selection is a science and decidedly not random.  It has been observed over and over again.  Based on what is present in a population, the best at a certain function or the best at reproducing itself is going to, in the long run, have the greatest number in that population.  But natural selection is not all there is to evolution as you have stated; it requires the random generation of advantageous mutations.  That is exactly what the equation was trying to show; the chance of all the mutations happening that lead from amino acids to proteins to reproducing cells to multi-cell organisms to invertebrates to vertebrates to amphibians to mammals to bipedal to humans with a brain that has “ten thousand distinct varieties of neurons, trillions of supportive cells, a few more trillion synaptic connections.” [2] How many random mutations will that take?  Even if a million mutations happened per second I don’t think there has been enough time for humans to have evolved.  And since the mutations are random, those million might not even have the advantageous mutation.

What you describe with your lab-mate is a wonderful example of natural selection, but like you said, “…by random chance, it is next to impossible to pull out the completely new RNA molecule.” That is exactly what evolution wants you to believe, that by random chance, we evolved from single cell organisms to a human with 6×10^13 cells. [3] How much faith does that take?

We see that mutations do happen and some of them are advantageous, but we have yet to observe mutations that add genetic code or genetic material.  In your lab-mate’s experiment, he is mutating RNA strands to find the ones that folds and cuts itself the best, but he started with a piece of RNA that already cuts itself, none of the mutations added that function, it was there to begin with.  With all the mutations, he created a different variation of the same kind of RNA.  Again, that is natural selection, not evolution.

So, back to using current observable evidences to explain origin, this experiment supports Creation more than it does evolution.  Evolution requires that mutations increase in genetic makeup or complexity and through natural selection come out with a new kind of organism.  This is not supported by that experiment, instead, we see organisms reproducing according to its kind, and exactly what the Bible says will happen.  With the kind of mutations that we can observe currently along with natural selection, we arrive at what we have now, different variations of the same kind of organisms.  Furthermore, we see that most mutations happening today are disadvantageous, increasing the odds of having that one advantageous mutation that much more.

Another neutral piece of scientific evidence is the second law of thermodynamics; it states that in a closed system, the total entropy tends to increase over time or that order will tend to become disorder. Evolution dictates that simple organisms increase in complexity over a long period of time.  Let’s take the simplest known organism with a DNA sequence of 480 genes [4] as the starting point; we are to believe that enough directed energy entered the Earth to evolve it into a human with a DNA sequence estimated at 20,000 to 25,000 genes.  And that one cell can be ordered into multiple cells per organism.  But the opposite is true and is observed, cells deteriorate and eventually is unable to reproduce and dies.

There are two alternatives for the origin of life; it was created or it was not, they are mutually exclusive and they exhaust all other possible options.  Evolution is not supported by observations of current processes and therefore, not a good explanation of how life began.  However, these same observations fit the model of how life would be as described by Scripture, leading to the conclusion that life was created.  It could have been created by pink unicorns or purple monkeys, but there is no documentation out there to support it, on the other hand, the best selling book ever since it was in publication says the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob did.

The Bible didn’t float down from Heaven (anyone who believes that is probably a bit crazy).  It was penned by 40 different people over a 1500 year span, three continents, and in three languages, yet it has the same consistent message. [5] The Bible was written by God and “holy men of God spoke [wrote] as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.” (2 Peter 1:21)

So why do I believe the Bible is the Word of God?  It is the best selling, most quoted, most published, most circulated, most translated, and most influential book in the history of mankind.  No, that doesn’t make the Bible true but there are many more reasons.

  1. Fulfilled prophecy:
    1. There are 26 other religious books that people of faith believe are divinely inspired but not even one of them contain any specific, fulfilled prophecies.  On the other hand, the Bible is filled with hundreds of specific, detailed prophecies that were written hundreds of years before their fulfillment.
    2. 27% of the Bible (more than 1 in 4 verses) contains what was predictive prophecy at the time that it was originally written.
    3. About the Messiah, the Old Testament foretold many very specific details:
      1. That He would be of the seed of Abraham (Gen. 12:1-3, 22:18)
      2. That He is from the tribe of Judah (Gen 49:10)
      3. That He will be one of David’s descendants (2 Samuel 7:12)
      4. The city He would be born in (Micah 5:2)
      5. That He’d come while the temple was still standing (Malachi 3:1)
      6. That He would perform miracles (Isaiah 35:5-6)
      7. That He would be rejected by His own people (Psalm 118:22)
      8. The precise time in history when He would die (Daniel 9:24-26)
      9. How He would die (Psalm 22:16-18, Isaiah 53, Zech. 12:10)
      10. That He would rise from the dead (Psalm 16:10)
    4. Tons of other prophecies about the nation of Israel and her neighbors
    5. Prophecies that are being fulfilled everyday, some by you guys as you write your rebuttal. (2 Peter 3:3)
    6. “…I am God, and there is none like Me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things that are not yet done…” (Isaiah 46:9-10)
  2. Archaeological verification:
    1. For the past 150 years, archaeologists have verified the detailed records in the Bible of events, customs, persons, cities, nations, and geographical locations.
    2. There have been more than 25,000 discoveries within the region know as “The Bible Lands” that have confirmed the truthfulness of the Bible.
    3. Pontius Pilate – critics were skeptical of his existence since there is little mention of him outside of the bible.  In June of 1961, a team of Italian archaeologists discovered a large limestone rock with the Latin inscription: “Pontius Pilate, Prefect of Judea, has presented the Tiberium to the Caesareans.”
    4. Caiaphas – the Jewish high priest at the time of Jesus’ crucifixion, in 1990 the Caiaphas family tomb was accidentally discovered by workers building a water park just south of Jerusalem.  Inside, archaeologists found 12 ossuaries and one of them had the inscription, “Joseph son of Caiaphas”, the full name of the high priest.
    5. King David – another stone found in Northern Israel with an inscription that referred to the House of David.  This stone has been dated to the 9th century B.C.
    6. These artifacts are displayed at the Israel Museum.
  3. The Bible’s internal consistency:
    1. From the book of Genesis to the book of Revelation, the Bible is absolutely consistent.
    2. It is not just one book with one or two writers where it might be easy to have a consistent thought.  The Bible is a compilation of 39 books in the OT and 27 books in the NT.
    3. It’s penned by 40 different people with different educational and cultural backgrounds.
    4. It was written over 1500 years, some 60+ generations.
    5. It was written on three continents: Asia, Europe and Africa.
    6. It was written in three languages: Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek.
    7. Even against all this, when we look at the Bible as a whole, it is a consistent, harmonious, and perfectly unified account of how God is seeking to reconcile sinful mankind back to Himself through the person of His Son, Jesus Christ.
  4. External verification:
    1. There are dozens of writings outside of the Bible that verify the historical accuracy of the many names of people, places, and events mentioned in the Bible.
  5. The Bible’s scientific accuracy and insights:
    1. The Bible was completed about 2,000 years ago, yet in it talks of the sun’s travel on its circuit through space.  “Its rising is from one end of heaven, and its circuit to the other end.” (Psalm 19:6)
    2. When the rest of the world thought the earth was flat, Isaiah declared that the world was round.  “It is He who sits above the circle of the earth…” (Isaiah 40:22) 2,000 years after that, people still thought Columbus was going to sail off the edge of the planet.
    3. People thought the number of stars were countable until the invention of the telescope. Hipparchus said there were exactly 1,026 stars, Ptolemy, 1056 stars, and Johannes Kepler counted 1,006.  When Galileo looked through his telescope, he found a whole lot more.  Way before that, the Bible said, “The host of heaven cannot be numbered, nor the sand of the sea measured.” (Jeremiah 33:22)
    4. God, who created the universe and knows everything about it, superintended the writing of the Bible to make sure everything in it is what He wanted to be in it.  The Bible points directly to God.
  6. The manuscript evidence:
    1. There are over 24,000 partial and complete ancient handwritten manuscript copies of the New Testament and tens of thousands of Old Testament manuscripts that have survived dating back as early as the third century BC.
    2. Over 86,000 quotes of the New Testament by early Church fathers that can reconstruct over 99.86% of the New Testament (all but 11 verses).
    3. Taking a look at these side by side with what we have now, you have proof that the Bible has not been changed over the ages.  “The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever.” (Isaiah 40:8)
  7. The willingness of Jesus’ disciples to suffer:
    1. All but one disciple were tortured and killed for preaching the Gospel.  John, who died of old age, died in exile after being unsuccessfully boiled in oil; John, the apostle of love, endured all things with the help of the Holy Spirit.  The others were stoned, crucified, sawed in half, and beheaded, among other things.
    2. People may be willing to die for something they know is true, but nobody is willing to die for something they know is a lie or thinks that it may not be true.

The Bible is accurate in recording the history of Israel and her neighboring nations as well as describing earthly things like water and wind currents, the procreation of life after its kind, the existence of the person Jesus of Nazareth, and many fulfilled Old and New Testament prophecies.  Because of these things, I believe in the trustworthiness of the Bible and from these, I believe the other things in the Bible are just as trustworthy.

You can not just be told about the Bible and understand it, you have to read it for yourself.  His Word never returns void.

Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.

Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.

Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.

Behold, I have given him for a witness to the people, a leader and commander to the people.

Behold, thou shalt call a nation that thou knowest not, and nations that knew not thee shall run unto thee because of the LORD thy God, and for the Holy One of Israel; for he hath glorified thee.

Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:

Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.

For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:

So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.

Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir tree, and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree: and it shall be to the LORD for a name, for an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.

Isaiah 55, KJV

I am sorry if I have offended you or have implied you didn’t have an open mind, I wasn’t trying to say that at all.  I was just saying that we have to search for the truth, it’s not going to just fall into our laps.

I’m also sorry if you feel you are wasting your time replying to my emails, but I think this is important.  It will change your life and afterlife.

Lastly, why didn’t God strike you down with a bolt of lighting?

  • God doesn’t just do anything we tell or ask Him to do.
  • Everything He puts in our lives or allows to happen in our lives is ultimately for our benefit.
  • God loves you.  He does not want to kill you or send you to hell.
  • If you died now and went to hell then Jesus died for you in vain.
  • Jesus’ death on the cross washed away our sins, that is our pardon from God.  If he destroyed you now, you won’t have a chance to accept it.

Living a Purpose Filled Life

Third email reply I sent my friends after I sent them some links about dinosaur tissue finds: (read the first& second replies)

My belief in God is not temporary in the least; Jesus has a death grip on my heart, His death on the cross.  Hinduism, belief in Brahman, the unchangeable god that is everything and everything is him, including us.  Our life is one of karma, and we are reincarnated over and over again until we are enlightened (changed) to the reality that we are one with Brahman.  Once we are “enlightened,” we become part of or absorbed into Brahman.  There’s Brahman changing again and we lose our identity as we become one with him.  “Resistance is futile.”  No, I don’t think so.  God, the God of Israel, created all things and is not part of all things.  He created us to know Him personally, through our sin nature, we are separated from Him, but He provided a way, the only way.  Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14:6)

Why the Christian Bible and not the Hindu Vedas or Bhagavad-Gita?  The Bible not only claims to be the Word of God, it proves itself by fulfilled prophecy, archaeological verification, scientific insights and accuracy, internal consistency, manuscript evidence, and more.  Evidence for Jesus’ existence and resurrection is also overwhelmingly strong.

Example:  Before Isaac Newton, Hindus believed that the earth rested on the back of an elephant that stood on the back of a turtle that was swimming in a great endless see.  But Job 26:7 states “He [God] stretches out the north over empty space; He hangs the earth on nothing.”

My life is improved, but that’s the thing, I’m not focusing on improving myself.  I’m focusing on my relationship with Jesus, pleasing and glorifying God, He is improving me, my life, and my eternal future.

A rock is used to hold the loose dirt together; it is also used as a stable foundation on which to build on.  “He is the Rock” (Deuteronomy 32:4) Jesus is the Rock that we can build our faith on.  I would rather live in a shack built on a rock than a mansion built on the sand.

Poop is used as fertilizer to give nutrients to plants.

Let me define “purpose” further.  What I meant is there is an objective purpose to everything as opposed to subjective purpose.  Purpose is objective when the designer of an object had a purpose in mind for it when he designed it.  A person using that object for whatever purpose they choose is subjective.

Example:  A hammer, the maker of a hammer made it to pound nails into something.  Using it to hit a nail is objective.  Using that hammer as paperweight is a subjective purpose.

God, the Creator, the Designer, had an objective purpose for our life: to get to know Him, to be in a personal relationship with Him, and to trust in Him.  Anything else and you are living for your own subjective purpose.  “I will be fulfilled and happy once I get out of school.  I will be fulfilled when I get a job, when I get a car, a girlfriend, a wife, a house, a bigger house, a better car, an even bigger house…”  It doesn’t end; you can never be fulfilled in life unless you are filled with the Holy Spirit.

The Bible does tell me to die.  “Then Jesus said to His disciples, ‘If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.'” (Matthew 16:24)  We are to die to ourselves, meaning, admit that we are sinners and repent of (change) our ways.  Once we die to ourselves and believe on Jesus Christ, we will have abundant life for eternity.  There’s a saying, “Born once, die twice; Born twice, die once.”  If you are only born once (natural birth), then you will die physically and die eternity.  If you are born twice (natural and spiritual birth), then you will only die physically, as your soul will live eternally with God.  By the way, in Heaven, you don’t just float around on clouds playing the harp like a lot of people believe; you will get a new glorified, immortal body and live on a New Earth and you will get to see the face of God.

The Bible WAS given to give us hope.  The Old Testament tells us of our righteous God, a God that wants to be in our lives, but people pushed Him out and worshiped other gods.  The New Testament tells us of the blessed hope of salvation through Jesus Christ.  We can’t do anything to cleanse ourselves of our sin, only God Himself can reconcile us back to Him.

Adonis, the god of nature; Aphrodite, the goddess of love; Nike, goddess of victory; Eros, the god of love and sexual desire; Pluto, god of wealth; Panacea, goddess of health; yes, everyone prays to a god, but which one, the mythical Greek gods who were born (created) and dies, or the one true God who have always been and will always be.

Just as the Hindu god Brahman is a lie of the devil, so are the gods in Greek mythology.  He is trying to deceive people into thinking there are more than one way to live, more than one way to be with God.  He wants nothing more than for everyone to be suffering with him in hell.

God loves us so much that He provided an easy way for us to get to know Him and to be with Him forever.  Jesus said, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink.” (John 7:37)  We just have to believe in Jesus Christ and we will be filled with life and purpose.

Strata Testifies of God, Mutation against Evolution

Second email reply I sent my friends after I sent them some links about dinosaur tissue finds: (read the first reply here)

Sorry it took me so long to reply, but I’m been working and reading more about creation, evolution, and fossilization.  And sorry that the reply is so long, hopefully you have time to read it all.  Smile

That’s where we disagree; I think it not logical to live a life without a purpose.  Everything has a purpose.  Cars take us places, computers automate things for us, and buildings shelter us from the elements.  Trees give out oxygen, the sun provides light and energy, oxygen keeps us alive.  What is our purpose?  To consume all of Earth’s resources and destroy the planet?

Learning more and more about the complexities of life and all the micro, macro, and cosmological systems in the Universe point to an Intelligent Designer.  Just as the Bible says, “What may be known of God is manifest in them [men], for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse.” (Romans 1:19-20)

Morals are not rules.  Don’t kill someone or you’ll go to jail, that’s a rule.  Don’t kill someone because I know it is wrong, that’s a moral.  And that moral, or conscience, is how I know there is a Creator.  “For when Gentiles, who do not have the law [commandments], by nature do the things in the law, these, although not having the law, are a law to themselves, who show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness.” (Romans 2:14-15)

You say society has formed and infrastructures exist to deal with threats, then why is our society so messed up (NAMBLA, porn industry, drugs, Hollywood)?  Because everyone is doing what makes them feel good about themselves instead of the Christ like love that Jesus demonstrated.

It is that love that is pulling me to Him, not the eternal damnation that is pushing me to God. People always see hell as some kind of threat, but it’s a warning from a loving Father.  If you ignore God and push Him out of your life, He will let you have your way in the end, He will not force you to be with Him.  And a place without God, that’s Hell.

One of the lies of the Devil is that man can build a society where they can live in peace and security.  Even the Jews, who professed to believe in God and had the Ten Commandments failed, because they are just man, who were proud and thought they knew it all.  They “followed” God, but they did not rely on God.  Even with Adam and Eve, it was perfect when they relied on God and communed with Him, but they wanted to be like God and ate of the Tree of Knowledge of good and evil.  With that, they CHOSE to disobey God and sinned, missed the mark.

As is with America now, we are pushing God out of everything, the God who has blessed this country.  If we continue to ignore Him, this country will be cursed.  God said to Abram, “I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” (Genesis 12:3)  We have been in support of Israel (the descendants of Abram) and God has blessed this country.  The day we withdraw support for Israel is the day this country will feel the curse of God.  The Christian influence is probably the only thing keeping the US in support of Israel.

I don’t claim that I know everything or that the Bible tells us everything.  In fact, I know the Bible doesn’t tell us everything, it only tells us the ways of God and how we can be saved by grace through faith in Jesus.

You’re right, a lot of people do just take what is fed to them from a book, but it’s not only the Bible, many of the “science” books dishes out evolution as a fact instead of a theory, and many people just believe what they were told from either book.

But you’re wrong when you say people can’t question the Bible, maybe in the medieval days of the old Roman Catholic Empire, not so with modern Protestant thinking.  We are told to ask questions and find what is true.  “Test all things; hold fast what is good.” (1 Thessalonians 5:21) “Jesus said to Thomas, ‘Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and reach your hand here, and put it into My side. Do not be unbelieving, but believing.'” (John 20:27)  Jesus told Thomas to test the wounds He received from the cross to know that He has risen from death.

Many people are out there looking for and finding evidence of the historical truth of the Bible.  People, places, nations, events, and prophecies have all been proven accurate.  There has not been a finding that contradicts the Bible.

There are problems in the evidence that evolutionary geologists have.  Take the rock strata for example.  There are 21 levels of rock strata and each stratum is supposedly formed over millions of years.  And it would seem logical that older stratum is below younger stratum.  Now, given there are some anomalies for earthquakes and stuff, how do whole slabs of stratum, square kilometers worth be found under another that is suppose to be older.  And you can’t find all the strata in one place anywhere in the world.  What about fossilized trees that span two different strata.  If the strata are formed millions of years apart, how does the tree fossilize half of itself in one stratum, avoid decomposition for a million years than fossilize the other half in another stratum.

The law of superposition tells us which stratum is older by their position.  The fossil record was built on fossil findings in different strata. The law of faunal succession tells us how old a stratum is by the fossils found in it.  Hmm… Which came first, the chicken or the egg?  (The chicken of course, on the fifth day. Smile )  Anyway, what about the fossils that are found in the “wrong” strata?  They are dismissed or somehow, they “reworked” themselves to lower strata; that is, they slipped, slid, or fell through the solid rock.

The global catastrophic flood of Noah’s day can explain all this.  Fossils require quick and tremendous pressure to be formed.  It usually requires water which carries sediments with it to cover the carcass.  The great flood would certainly explain all the different fossils in the different strata and the different strata in different places, not to mention how they find whale fossils near the tops of mountains.

Speaking of evolution, here’s an article that explains how it is near impossible using simple math.  http://www.answersingenesis.org/creation/v4/i2/chance.asp

And here’s one from an evolutionist trying to explain away the chance factor of mutations using a lot of words and scientific terms.  http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/chance/chance.html

Here’s another evolutionary article, it does take chance into account.  It even states that most mutations are disadvantageous, which just makes good mutations that much less probable.  http://www.meta-library.net/evolution/chance-body.html

So I trust in the Bible and have faith in God and His promises.  Just as I have faith that I wouldn’t float into space because I trust in the law of gravity, it’s hasn’t failed yet.  And I have faith that you guys will help me when I’m in need because I know and trust you.

Yes, it is true that religion is the source a lot of conflicts, but religion is a man made concept, it is not what God created or intended.  Religion is believing what “they” believe is right, and not believing what God, the Creator of Heaven and Earth, says is right.  If all the people in religion listened to God’s Word, we wouldn’t have all these wars and suffering.

Examples of religious wars:

  • The Christian Crusades – the Pope using the Name of Christ, raised armies to gain money and power for the Catholic Church.  That’s not what Christianity teaches.
  • 9/11 and all the suicide bombers – Islamic fundamentalists killing infidels for Allah, the Quran teaches that is a sure way of getting to heaven where they will have seven virgins.  That’s definitely not Christian, especially since Allah is the moon god.
  • Hitler – using God’s name again, saying that the Jews rejected God, so they have to be rejected and purged as well.

Wars that have nothing to do with religion:

  • Emperor Nero’s persecution of Christians – blaming Christians for the fire that burnt Rome, the fire that he started
  • The opium war – fighting for… opium
  • The American Revolution
  • The slaughter of Native Americans
  • The Civil War
  • The war on drugs.

This article explains it pretty well.  Take a look at footnote #7 too. http://www.everystudent.com/wires/justwar.html

Jesus was lead to the cross and died for our sins, He sacrificed Himself for us, He didn’t go to war and destroy all the non-believers.

Thanks for the kind words, and I didn’t mean to say that I was a bad person or to imply non-believers are bad people; many “believers” are still “bad” people.  And that’s the thing, who or what are we comparing ourselves to?  Compared to a murderer or a rapist, I’m an angel.  Compared to someone who shows mercy and forgives another for being too loud, I’m like a demon.  It is just another of the Devil’s lies, he makes us think that we’re good the way we are, that there’s no need to change.  I used to think that I was a good person, that I was good enough to make it to heaven, but I was wrong, I have not lived up to the image that God created us in.

I’m not saying that I’m perfect now, because I’m not, and I can never be perfect, Jesus is the only one who is and always will be perfect.  Compared to Jesus, we’re all sinners, we’ve all missed the mark.  It’s a hard thing to acknowledge, nobody likes to be wrong or to feel bad, but God forgives us by His grace with His love and mercy.

You said that you will keep an open mind and keep searching.  I just want to make sure that you are taking into consideration both sides of the argument.  If you never read what someone on the opposing side wrote, then you would never know what other points are out there and if they are valid or not, you would only get biased information that supports what you believe in.

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

Using Science to Find God

Here is the first in a series of email replies I sent my friends after I sent them some links about dinosaur tissue finds:

I know how science works.  I also know the difference between conjectures, hypothesis, and theories and the how you get from one to the other.  I also learned from the same school as you that it takes a lot of different kinds of repeatable tests to prove a theory and only one repeatable contradictory test to disprove one.  Now, I’m not saying that the soft tissue issue is the one contradictory evidence against evolution or the old age of Earth.  I included non-creationist article of the same find and other related articles in my email in hopes of understanding soft tissue decay and fossilization.

I only sited the articles to say that people have an accepted view of something that they believe.  When new data and new information come up that might be contradictory, they wave it off as something that must fit into their belief instead of stepping back to take a look at it and how it relates.  Scientists are not the only ones I’m talking about, creationists do they same thing, as you have pointed out.

This passage really expresses how I feel about my search for the truth.

The divinely inspired word of God is infallible. Likewise, the divinely created creation is an “infallible” testimony of God’s work, Romans 1:19-20. Both are true representations of the Divine. While both these revelations are infallible, both require human understanding to have any meaning to us. This is where the real problem lies. Both our understanding of the scriptures and our understanding of the creation are fallible. Both change. Historically, I believe it is a fair representation that religious men have just as poor a track record for properly understanding scripture, as any review of the history of science could provide. This is certainly evidenced by the modern diversity of Christian religions. Such misunderstanding of scripture is illustrated over and over throughout the pages of the Bible itself. In the Old Testament the Israelites did not understand their own religion. In the New Testament the Pharisees did not understand the basics of love and justice. Indeed, Jesus’ own disciples did not understand the most fundamental aspects of His kingdom. Religious people get religion wrong just as readily as scientists get their science wrong. Let’s not get into a rock throwing contest as to which discipline is better at making and maintaining unfounded dogma. The truth is that both scientists and believers have to change our views to accommodate our growth in understanding of the infallible word of God and improved knowledge of the unchangeable testimony of His creation. To be able to change when shown wrong is sign of wisdom, not weakness.

Hill Roberts – http://lordibelieve.org/Days.htm

If you are anything like I was, I want you to always be searching and seeking instead of just believing in what we grew up with.  I always just relied on what I “knew” as fact and readily dismissed any opposing view.  I have come to be a little more diligent in trying to find what really is out there, why we are here, and what the truth is.

I am not blindly following some guy’s teaching.  I am searching for why we exist.  Why are we here if there is nothing beyond?  If we all came from one cell and a bunch of random mutation, just some intelligent animals, and there is nothing after death, then what are we doing?  Trying to make a better life?  Why don’t I just go out and do what I want, live the way I want to, instead of sitting here working for someone else?  I can lie, steal, cheat and do what I want.  But what about morals?  Where did my morals come from?  The law?  No, man created rules and regulations.  Then who?  Animals don’t have morals.  If there is nothing after I die, no repercussions, why not do what I want since I won’t have to answer to anything or anybody afterwards.  There has to be something more out there.

I am using the intelligence and the logical mind that God has given me to find facts and evidences that will help me to think through it and to decide.  For me the evidence is pointing towards God and His unfailing Word.

Secular historians and archeological finds all support the Bible.  There is no evidence out there that can prove even one verse of the Bible to be false.  In fact, your links led me to more sites and more information that defined and solidify my faith.

One of the greatest evidence is my life.  After accepting Jesus into my heart, I have become a new person.  You all know what I was like before I was born again, now, I’m living in Christ, living for God.

I probably quoted this before, but… “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.”  Matthew 7:7

Start searching, don’t be complacent in your life or your beliefs, God will open doors and lead you to the truth.
